Description

An open, translucent ruby colour, showing the delicacy of the old grapes it comes from. On the nose it's elegant and subtle: fine aromas of fresh red fruit, recalling wild strawberry and raspberry, wrapped in balsamic notes of kermes oak, rockrose and a very delicate minty streak.

On the palate it confirms the promise of the nose: a red that's light in texture but full of ‘nuances’. Lively, precise acidity supports the whole, giving freshness and tension. The tannins are round and well shaped, joining the subtle minerality and earthy feel left by ageing in cement and clay and cocciopesto amphorae. There are also echoes of orange and gentle spice that add complexity and originality.

The finish is long, quietly firm, with an authentic character that recalls the old reds of the Serra do Mendro: pure, transparent wines of great regional typicity. A micro-terroir wine, more contemplative than exuberant, that invites careful, unhurried tasting.
