What it is

João Clara Ânfora Negra Mole 2024 is a journey back in time, honouring an old Algarve tradition of storing and ageing wine in clay amphorae. It celebrates the native Negra Mole grape, offering a pure, authentic expression of the region.

Made from grapes from vines over 50 years old on clay-limestone soils in Alcantarilha. Fermentation is partly whole-bunch and partly destemmed, followed by 5 months' post-fermentation maceration in clay amphorae, giving the wine distinctive complexity and a unique personality.

Colour & aromaLight ruby; the nose is dominated by grape and talha notes; fresh and taut on the palate, showing all the potential of Negra Mole.
