Benjamin Romeo is the best-known "garagista" in Spain, for the "Vins de Garage" he produced for several years. The story begins in 1995 when he acquired a centuries-old cellar, right below the Castle of San Vicente de la Sonsierra. In 1996 he launched the first Cueva del Contador and entered the world of "Bodegueros". At this time, he vinified wines in the garage of his home, adapted as a wine cellar. With the recognition that his wines began to receive, from international critics, in 2000 he decided to work full time on his wines, being rewarded later, in the 2004 and 2005 harvests of his icon wine, Contador, with 100 points. by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. In 2008, a new stage in his career began with the inauguration of his new wine cellar, a monument to architecture. Nowadays its range is more extensive, but always very high in terms of the quality of its wines.
