Description

Les Pensées de Lafleur was created in 1987 by Sylvie and Jacques Guinaudeau as the second wine of Château Lafleur, one of Pomerol's most mythical and rarest estates, and has since evolved into a grand vin in its own right. It comes from a small strip of clay at the centre of Lafleur's gravel-dominated vineyard and is made in very small quantities, as a distinct interpretation of the same terroir.

In the glass it shows a deep colour and a nose of ripe black fruit, cedar, tobacco and graphite, with fine spice that gains complexity with air. The palate is structured and elegant, with firm yet polished tannins, fresh acidity and a long, persistent finish.

Decant one to two hours ahead and serve at 16–18 °C with roast kid, lamb chops, dry-aged beef or hard cheeses. It is a wine built for the long haul that rewards patient cellaring.
