Luis Gutiérrez: There is a subtle change in the name of their flagship red wine, and in 2020 it is labeled as 2020 Terreus Cima de Cueva Baja. The vintage came from a slightly cooler year, resulting in more refined wines. This label stands out for being aromatic, fresh and elegant, with great depth and layers of aromas that reveal themselves over time in the glass. The alcohol and acidity parameters are quite similar to those of the 2019, which I tasted alongside, but the aromatic profile and texture in the mouth are different. Here, the presence of oak is more integrated, making the wine more fluid, elegant and full of 'nuances'. A total of 9,993 bottles were bottled in August 2022.
Bodega Mauro has 100 hectares of vineyards with an average age of 20 years, mainly in Tudela de Duero, Traspinedo and other locations in the Ribera del Duero. Since 2017, they have been planting more Cabernet Sauvignon at altitudes above 800 meters, aiming to increase the acidity in their blends. The winery practices organic farming and also applies biodynamic principles in some vineyards. The average annual production is 350,000 bottles.
