Description

Passagem Tinto 2024 is a wine from the Douro Superior (Quinta das Bandeiras), born of a joint venture between Quinta de La Rosa and renowned winemaker Jorge Moreira.

Although some production and bottling details sometimes overlap with the previous vintage (bottled at the end of 2024), the profile of this classic Douro red keeps the brand's usual consistency.

The 2023 Passagem Tinto shows intense notes of ripe, sweet fruit and red cherries, with a vibrant nose and a velvety, juicy palate, fruit-driven and delicate, with very well-integrated oak and fine tannins, plus the voluptuous profile typical of the Douro Superior. It's a blend of Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca with 13% alcohol and integrated acidity. 9,700 bottles were produced. It was bottled in November 2024, after nine months in used French oak barrels.

Quinta de la Rosa is owned by the Bergqvist family, with 62 hectares in the heart of Pinhão, where they mainly make reds and Port, but in recent years have been building a broader range of whites. In 2019 they replanted 2.3 hectares in the Cerejinha vineyard with Alvarinho, Arinto and Gouveio, making new wines from these grapes. Also in 2019 they bought a neighbouring estate, Quinta de Vedeal, with 10 hectares of red grapes. The wines are made under Jorge Moreira of Poeira, producing around 45,000 litres of white wine, 200,000 litres of red and 80,000 litres of Port.

I've also included the Passagem wines from the Douro Superior, from Quinta das Bandeiras, which they also call Quinta de Passagem.
