Poeira Decade Tinto 2014 is a very exclusive special "library" edition, released by renowned winemaker Jorge Moreira (Quinta do Poeira) exactly 10 years after the harvest. It's a red from the Douro Demarcated Region (Provesende, Pinhão Valley), designed to show the brand's ageing potential through long, controlled rest in the cellar.

A library release of the original Poeira, 10 years after the harvest, the 2014 Poeira 10 Year Decade Controlled Aged Wine is ageing at a glacial pace. It's a reflection of time and still shows plenty of oak, without gaining much complexity, remaining somewhat square and a little monolithic, a bit à la Accad. It's as if the wine were frozen in time... The tannins still need to integrate, but it's obviously very impressive for its age. I believe it will stay like this for quite a while.
Poeira, or Quinta do Poeira, is the family project of couple Jorge Moreira and Olga Martins. They have nine hectares in Provesende, in the Pinhão Valley, where the winery is, with vines between 21 and 70 years old, plus two hectares in Covas do Douro planted in 1950. They make 40,000 bottles.
