Couquinho means “a place that is difficult to access”. Quinta do Couquinho has belonged to the Melo Trigo family for more than two centuries and is located in the Vilariça Valley. The first harvest was bottled and sold by Lavradores de Feitoria, a company of which Quinta do Couquinho was a founding partner. It was only in 2002 that the decision was made to bottle it under its own brand.

Located in the Superior Douro part of the Douro Demarcated Region, Quinta do Couquinho has around 70 hectares, 60 of which are cultivated with vineyards and olive groves, with the remainder filled with almond, orange, fig, apple and other fruit trees.

Planted on rolling terrain and terraces, the vineyard is under an integrated production regime and has a grape variety from traditional Douro varieties, such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Barroca.

It has a very deep ruby ​​color in the center and a bright violet halo, the nose reveals suggestive and fresh floral aromas, namely violets, as well as soft notes of forest fruits and pleasant nuances of barrel, in the mouth it is a wine with a good volume, beautiful acidity and an above all fruity body, in addition to being spicy and rich in barrel notes, the aftertaste is prolonged and relatively persistent.
