The prestige of Noval Nacional is partly attributed to its small production – only 200-300 cases are produced in declared years (this represents only a small percentage of the entire Port production of Quinta do Noval – between 1,200 and 5,000 cases in each declared year). Most of the Nacional grape varieties are recognised as the best for Port wines: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinto Cão and Sousão. Due to the small production, Nacional is always sold in very small quantities. When it reaches the open market, Nacional sells for extremely high prices, reflecting the exceptional quality and rarity of this Port which is of the highest interest among collectors.
Deep and concentrated in color, it has an incredibly vivid, pleasant and spicy nose. There are some dark, earthy and savory notes, as well as firm tannins and incredible intensity. Very flavorful, with a lovely structure. Just brilliant.
