Defender of the conviction of the need to protect a good wine like Chianti, Giulio Straccali was one of the founding fathers of the Consorzio del Gallo Nero, of which he was also vice-president from 1942 to 1969, the year of his death.

In 1978, Italo Zingarelli, founder of Rocca delle Macìe, sharing Giulio's dream and driven by a forward-looking entrepreneurial spirit, purchased the Castellina in Chianti company from the Straccali family. Since then, Straccali has established itself for the high quality of its wines throughout the world and today, thanks to the constant commitment of the Zingarelli family, it has an excellent selection of wines.
