Every year, Susana Esteban, with her Sidecar project, invites a prestigious winemaker to vinify a unique wine together in her cellar in Alentejo. The Sidecar 2018/19 edition is the most recent collaboration with Ricardo Diogo, producer and winemaker at the emblematic Barbeito winery in Madeira.


This blend of vintage years is obtained exclusively from the Alicante Bouschet grape variety, coming from 70-year-old vines, located in the Serra de São Mamede and aged in old Italian wine barrels. The result is one of extraordinary complexity, structure and elegance, summed up in a limited production of 2100 bottles and 50 magnums.

Susana Esteban is one of the Portuguese winemakers to follow. In 2012, she was awarded the most prestigious award that a winemaker can receive in Portugal, the title of “Winemaker of the Year”, by Revista de Vinhos, having been to date the only woman to have been awarded this distinction.
