100 Wine Spectator points, 100 points James Suckling, and 97 points Robert Parker

The winter of 1993/1994 was extremely rainy throughout the region. As a result, most vineyards had very low yields. In some areas of the Douro, production levels were up to 75% less than the average. Despite the weak start, the growing season was satisfactory, with warm and dry weather, only interrupted by a few short periods of rain.

The 1994 Vintage Port received 100 points from the highly recognized James Suckling, who was part of the Wine Spectator magazine team at the time.
Tasting Note: Deep crimson color, just starting to show some maturity in the halo. The explosive fruit of youth is more contained now as the wine begins to materialize in maturity. However, the nose is still guided by impressive and focused aromas of blackberry and black currant, highlighted by the classic violet scent of Taylor's wines. Full-bodied and well-structured, with rich flavors of blackberry and cassis. Flavors of spices, licorice and reminiscent of figs that develop in the long and sumptuous finish. Only now, after 15 years, is it starting to come together.
