Purple black with ink and narrow magenta border. Classic Taylor nose, with exotic aromas of violet and gumcisto against an impenetrable background of intense dark fruits. The 2003 Vintage Port shows an elegant and bold palate, displaying a tight fabric of strong tannins and full of concentrated grapey flavors, which intensify with the seemingly endless finish. Like many of Taylor's other great vintage wines, this wine is an archetype of restrained power, its elegance and breeding belying enormous internal strength and resilience.
The winter that preceded the 2003 harvest was very rainy. Flowering took place at the end of May, with warm and bright weather, in conditions considered to be one of the best in many years. The first two weeks of August provided the intense summer heat that often heralds great Vintage Port. The harvest time in September was warm and dry, and yields were uniform for all varieties, ensuring balance and complexity in the wines.
An absolute blockbuster that, according to Robert Parker, “can proudly stand, shoulder to shoulder, alongside the best vintage Port wine ever made by Taylor’s”.
Color reminiscent of Chinese ink, with a narrow magenta halo. Classic Taylor's nose, with exotic fragrances of violet and rockrose, on an impenetrable background of intense black wild fruit. Stylized and energetic mouth, revealing a tight tissue of vigorous tannins and full of concentrated flavors reminiscent of grapes that intensify throughout the seemingly endless finish. Like many other great Taylor's vintage ports, this wine is an archetype of restrained power; His elegance and race hide enormous inner strength and energy.
