95 points José Peñin and 97 Vinogrande points (personal note)

Pago de Santa Cruz Gran Reserva is a very exclusive wine with a structure that defines its roots, marking and denoting all the qualities of Pago de Santa Cruz. Enveloping, silky and aromatic and with a lot of life ahead.

Selection, 100% red from the country of Pago de Santa Cruz in La Horra (Burgos) from vineyards around 80 years old in limestone clay soils on the slopes above the Douro and Gromejón rivers. Aged for 30 months in French and American oak barrels. Six transfers. Approximate production of 3,000 bottles.

1992 was the year that the Sastre family decided to found a small winery where they would make wine from their first 23 hectares of vineyard. Since then, at Viña Sastre they have maintained a traditional way of cultivation and production with the utmost respect for the land, with which they seek to produce quality wines with a unique character in La Horra.

Personal rating 97 points

Color: Deep ruby with violet reflections, revealing promising youth.

Nose: A seductive explosion of ripe dark fruits, such as blackberry and plum, combined with nuances of violet and black pepper, wrapped in a delicate note of vanilla from the oak.

Palate: In the mouth, it reveals a silky texture and impressive concentration. The black fruit flavors are amplified by the complexity brought by aging in oak barrels, providing layers of flavors that unfold harmoniously. The tannins are firm, but well integrated, giving structure and elegance to the wine. The finish is long and persistent, leaving a pleasantly spicy flavor in the mouth.
