Winemaking: The grapes are hand-picked into small baskets; they come from a single harvest and the winemaking follows the traditional method of making Port Wine. After a partial fermentation phase, the grapes are trodden by foot in old stone presses. Fermentation occurs at a controlled temperature and is interrupted by the addition of brandy (aguardente). This wine, as it is made, has great aging potential. A single harvest wine, it was aged in oak barrels for a minimum of 7 years. Look for the year of bottling on the back label.
