Description
Niepoort Redoma Branco 2025 is a Douro white that stands out for its classic high-altitude profile, freshness and minerality. Made by Dirk Niepoort, it comes from old vines between 400 and 600 metres, on predominantly mica-schist soils.
The Wine AdvocateRP 93+Reviewed by: Luis Gutiérrez
The 2024 Redoma Branco has a Burgundian profile. They work with vineyards around Murça and Porrais, on schist and granite soils, with a mix of grapes. Whole bunches were pressed, and the must fermented in 228- and 500-litre barrels, where it aged on the lees for six months. In 2023 the harvest was quite long, aiming for ripeness between 11.5% and 12.5%, and this year the bottled wine finished at 12% alcohol, slightly lower than 2022. It has clean, expressive aromas of white fruit, flowers, spice and a touch of smoke, and a very tasty, harmonious and precise palate. A little lighter and fresher than the 2022, it should age well. They make around 70,000 bottles of this wine. It was bottled between March and April 2023.

Niepoort Redoma Branco 2024, tasted in October 2025, received 94 points from critic James Suckling, who highlighted its austere, well-structured character.
AromaOn the nose it's restrained and precise, with clear notes of salted lemon and green apple. On the palate it's medium- to full-bodied, marked by tension and incisive acidity that gives great definition.
The wine moves to a textured, persistent finish, with nuances of stone fruit such as peach and white plum, alongside a strong mineral component. The old-vine origin and French oak ageing are singled out as key to its complexity, integrated in a balanced way without dominating the fruit.
According to Suckling, the wine can be enjoyed now but also has ageing potential, gaining even more complexity with time in bottle.
With 94 points, Redoma Branco 2024 stands out as excellent value in the Douro, especially compared with the Redoma Reserva, which usually scores slightly higher (95-96 points) but at a higher price.
