On opening the bottle, you're immediately wrapped in an intense aroma of black and red fruit such as blackberries, blueberries and redcurrants, interwoven with subtle notes of black olives and liquorice, supported by a balsamic, spicy touch that adds creamy depth.

On the palate the wine shows its elegance: polished tannins dance with lively acidity, conveying energy and freshness, typical of the more Atlantic style of Rioja Alavesa. Medium- to full-bodied, it leads to a long, persistent finish with floral echoes and an earthy “forest floor” aroma.

The blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Mazuelo (Cariñena) gives the wine a singular structure, with remarkable freshness and longevity. It's precisely this distinctive use of Mazuelo that Tim Atkin values, reflected in the 94 points in his Rioja Special Report.
