2022 wasn't an easy year, with a demanding harvest from a viticultural point of view. The Garmón 2022 was made with gentler extraction, given the natural concentration the year provided.

It still has a fairly primary profile, with a purple colour that shows its youth. On the nose and palate it's elegant and juicy, with abundant, slightly earthy tannins. The blend includes 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and the wine reached 14.5% alcohol.

After fermentation it aged for 22 months in French oak barrels and was bottled in August 2024. 50,000 bottles were produced.

About the producer:
Garmón Continental is the García family's project in Ribera del Duero, the same family behind Mauro and San Román. Since 2021 they have added a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon to the winery's only wine.

The estate has 20 hectares in the appellation, spread across different villages — Moradillo, Baños, Tubilla del Lago, Hontoria, Anguix, Valbuena and Olivares. As a result the wine takes on the profile of a regional blend, preserving the distinctive character of Ribera del Duero.

Average production is 50,000 bottles.

Suckling describes this wine as having a "solid core of fruit" and highlights the balance achieved in this vintage. The critic frames 2021 in Ribera del Duero as a "rock and roll" vintage — a landmark of freshness, structure and intensity, surpassing the depth of more recent years such as 2023.
