Description

Tamdhu in Speyside is one of the rare distilleries that mature all of their whisky in oloroso sherry casks, of both American and European oak. Closed in 2010 and reopened soon after by Ian Macleod, it quickly gained fame among sherried whisky lovers. The 12 Year Old is the generous, fruity core expression.

Matured for 12 years in oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 43%, it shows raisins, orange, toffee and cinnamon on the nose. The palate is creamy, with red berries, caramel, ginger and vanilla. The finish is medium, with walnuts, spice and red berries.

A generous, enveloping after-dinner whisky. Serve it neat in a nosing glass and add a drop of water to open the aromas. It pairs with dark chocolate, nuts, fruit cake and aged cheeses.
