Description
Poeira Branco 2023 is the benchmark white from Quinta do Poeira, the project of winemaker Jorge Moreira and Olga Martins in Provesende, in the Douro. It's known for its elegant, fresh profile and great ageing capacity.
The Wine AdvocateRP 93Reviewed by: Luis Gutiérrez
I consider their top white, the 2023 Branco, elegant, subtle, clean and refined as never before. I confess I thought it was crazy when they told me they were planting Alvarinho on their Douro property, but after tasting this wine I have to admit I was wrong...
It has a velvety texture and an excellent combination of purity, balance and symmetry. It's a delicious wine. It was made from Alvarinho from north-facing vines planted at 400 metres on schist soils, and fermented and aged in used 500-litre barrels.
With time in the glass, it developed a mint note of great precision and freshness. 3,900 bottles were produced. The wine was bottled in July 2024.
Poeira, or Quinta do Poeira, is the family project of couple Jorge Moreira and Olga Martins. They own nine hectares in Provesende, in the Pinhão valley, where their winery is, with vines aged 21 to 70 years, plus two hectares in Covas do Douro planted in 1950. They produce about 40,000 bottles.
