The Poeira Branco 2023, named after the winery, was made with Alvarinho from north-facing vineyards planted at an altitude of 400 meters on schist soils. It was fermented and aged in used 500-liter barrels. Here, I notice less of the typicality of the variety and more pungent, terpene-like aromas and flavors, with notes of ceramic and dust intertwined with hints of yellow flowers and citrus flavors reminiscent of lemon lozenge. It has a chalky, powdery texture on the palate, with a long, dry and savory finish. A total of 3,900 bottles were produced. The wine was bottled in July 2024.

Poeira, or Quinta do Poeira, is the family project of the couple Jorge Moreira and Olga Martins. They have nine hectares in Provesende, in the Pinhão Valley, where the winery is also located, with vines ranging from 21 to 70 years old, in addition to two hectares in Covas do Douro, planted in 1950. The total production is 40,000 bottles.
