Porcupine Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

The Porcupine Ridge brand has its origins in the farm’s natural environment and ongoing efforts to conserve the biodiversity of the property and surrounding mountains. In addition to a number of rare species of fauna and flora – such as the erica lerouxiae, which is endemic to Boekenhoutskloof – the farm is home to several families of crested porcupines, which are rarely seen due to their nocturnal lifestyle.

The nose is intense and offers classic black fruit with hints of cranberry, cigar box, graphite and subtle perfume. The black cherry, blueberry and blackberry character of the nose flows into a well-rounded mid-palate with notes of oregano, rosemary and graphite derived from the French oak. The palate is juicy, smooth and agile, but with enough structure provided by its fine tannins and vibrant acidity to balance. A pleasant garrigue character lingers in a compound finish with notes of dark chocolate.
