Description
Pacheca Vale de Abraão is made from grapes from Quinta de Vale de Abraão, from vineyards in the Pinhão river valley and the Vilariça valley.
Very elegant, with clear floral notes of violet and orange blossom. A spicy touch from the oak also stands out on the nose. Complex, with present but well-polished tannins, chocolate notes and underlying freshness. A long, very persistent finish.
Quinta da Pacheca, one of the Douro's best-known estates, stands out for being among the first to bottle wines under its own brand.
The Quinta's name has been recorded since 17 April 1738, when a dated document first refers to Quinta “da Pacheca”, after its owner D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. But it was only in 1903 that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to pursue his growing interest in winemaking, buying the property to devote it to wine production.
Today, a century on, the new Serpa Pimentel generation runs the Quinta: Maria, Catarina and José are the young faces of this strongly family-run business.
