95 points Robert Parker
Pacheca Vale de Abraão is a wine obtained from grapes from Quinta de Vale de Abraão, from vineyards in the Pinhão River Valley and from vineyards in the Vilariça Valley.
Very elegant, with evident floral notes of violet and orange blossom. The aroma also has a spicy touch given by the wood. Complex, with present but well-polished tannins, notes of chocolate and implicit freshness. Long and very persistent finish.
Quinta da Pacheca, one of the best-known properties in the Douro, stands out for being one of the first to bottle its own-brand wines.
The name of this Quinta has been referenced since April 17, 1738, when a dated document first mentions the Quinta “da Pacheca”, as its owner was D. Mariana Pacheco Pereira. However, it was only in 1903 that D. José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to develop his growing interest in oenology, purchasing the property with the aim of dedicating himself to wine production.
Today, a century later, the new generation of Serpa Pimentels takes over the management of the Quinta: Maria, Catarina and José are the young faces of this company with a distinctly family nature.
