• Ex-bourbon: American oak that first aged bourbon (US law requires new casks for bourbon, so many are available second-hand); they tend to give vanilla, coconut and caramel.

Description
Deanston operates in an 18th-century cotton mill on the banks of the River Teith in the southern Highlands and produces its own power with a hydro turbine. The 12 Year Old is matured in bourbon casks, non-chill filtered and with natural colour, and shows the house style well: sweet, cereal-driven and very creamy.
Matured for 12 years in bourbon casks and bottled at 46.3%, it shows honey, malted cereal, green apple and vanilla on the nose. The palate is creamy, with honey, biscuit, ginger and vanilla. The finish is medium, with honey, malted cereal and spice.
An easy, versatile whisky to enjoy neat, on ice or in a refreshing highball. It pairs with grilled fish, seafood, salads and fresh cheeses, and is an excellent choice for anyone discovering the category.
