Description

Teeling Blackpitts is named after an area of Dublin next to the distillery where hides were once tanned in black pits. It is a peated Irish single malt, a rarity in a country famous for smokeless whiskey, triple distilled and matured in bourbon and Sauternes wine casks, which balance the smoke with sweetness.

Matured in bourbon casks and wine casks and bottled at 46%, it shows peat smoke, honey, lemon and clove on the nose. The palate is creamy, with peat smoke, vanilla, caramel and pepper. The finish is long, with peat smoke, spice and honey.

For lovers of smoke, it is an essential bottle. Drink it neat or with a drop of water, which reveals the sweetness hidden behind the peat. It pairs with oysters, smoked salmon, grilled meats and blue cheese.
