• Ex-bourbon: American oak that first aged bourbon (US law requires new casks for bourbon, so many are available second-hand); they tend to give vanilla, coconut and caramel.
• Port: Port casks tend to add red fruit and sweet notes.
• Madeira: casks that held Madeira wine.
A finish is a final period of maturation in a second cask.

% ABV is alcohol by volume. In the European Union the legal minimum is 40% for whiskey and 37.5% for gin, rum and vodka. Cask strength means bottled at the cask's natural strength, without dilution. A few drops of water can open up the aromas.

A 700 ml bottle gives about 17 measures of 4 cl. Once opened, store it upright, tightly closed and away from light and heat: spirits keep well for months but slowly lose aroma once the bottle is half empty.

Description
The Teeling family brought distilling back to Dublin in 2015, with the first distillery to open in the city in more than 125 years, in the historic Liberties district. Teeling Single Malt stands out for combining whiskeys matured in five types of wine cask, including port, Madeira and Sauternes.
Matured in wine casks, port casks, Madeira casks and bourbon casks and bottled at 46%, it shows tropical fruit, red berries, vanilla and flowers on the nose. The palate is creamy, with tropical fruit, grape, honey and spice. The finish is medium, with red berries, vanilla and oak.
Balanced and complex, it works as well for a relaxed evening as for a special dinner. Serve neat or with a drop of water. It pairs with roast meats, mushrooms, nuts and hard cheeses.
