The Altesino 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Montosoli shows a rich, almost liqueur-like side that highlights the brightness of the fruit in this vintage. This dark-fruit core is framed by mineral notes of black slate and crushed river stone. There's a pleasing chalky minerality on the palate that integrates with the firm tannic structure of this full-bodied wine. The effect is elegant and sharply delineated. Aged in large Slavonian oak casks, 12,000 bottles were produced.

James Suckling:
Nose and Palate: Described as "a juicy and lightly austere young red". It shows "blackberry, cherry and bark character on both the nose and palate".
Body and Texture: It's "medium- to full-bodied", with "chewy tannins that soften at the end, but still make your mouth pucker" in a very exciting way.
Ageing Potential: Suckling suggests keeping the wine, recommending "Give this two or three years to soften".
The 2020 vintage was also included in James Suckling's Top 100 Wines of Italy. These accolades highlight the wine's elegant, complex profile, with notes of black morello cherry, wild blackberry and balsamic touches, appreciated by critics.
