The 2021 La Rosa Grande Reserva Red is a modern, ripe and generously oaked Douro red, with elegance, balance and the freshness typical of 2021. It's powerful and elegant, with the body, freshness and balance to develop well in bottle. It was made exclusively from Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, fermented in granite lagares and oak vats, and aged in French oak barrels, 40% new, for 20 months. It may need a little more time for the oak to integrate better. 18,000 bottles were produced. Bottled in April 2024.

Quinta de la Rosa belongs to the Bergqvist family, with 62 hectares in the heart of Pinhão, where they mainly produce reds and Port, but in recent years they have developed a larger portfolio of whites. In 2019 they replanted 2.3 hectares in the Cerejinha vineyard with Alvarinho, Arinto and Gouveio and began making new wines from these grapes. They also bought an adjacent property in 2019, Quinta de Vedeal, with 10 hectares of red grapes. The wines are directed by Jorge Moreira, of Poeira, with roughly 45,000 litres of white, 200,000 litres of red and 80,000 litres of Port.
