Deep garnet-purple in colour, the 2020 Haut Sarpe opens in the glass with expressive aromas of roasted black plums, stewed black cherries and blackberries, complemented by notes of Chinese five spice, sandalwood and tree bark, plus a subtle hint of unsmoked cigars.

The medium-bodied palate (14% alcohol) has a firm, chewy texture and vibrant freshness supporting the layers of spiced black fruit. The finish is tasty, persistent and slightly firm.
