Niepoort Sempar Tinto 2019

After several joint projects in the Alentejo, Dirk Niepoort literally put his “hands in the wine” and set out alone to explore Portalegre in the Alto Alentejo. Sempar means peerless, unique, incomparable, and perfectly captures the kind of wines Niepoort believes in: uncomplicated wines that are the fullest expression of the vineyard they come from. Dirk Niepoort greatly admires the Portalegre area of the Alentejo. The elegance and balance between granite and schist soils, and the altitude of the Serra de São Mamede, give the wines a dimension of acidity that makes them versatile.

An exuberant nose with expressive fruit. But more than just fruity, it has enormous freshness and a great bouquet. A structured, elegant wine, balanced by persistent acidity and concise, precise tannins. Very long finish, with great ageing potential.
