Description
The Balvenie 21 Year Old PortWood is an acclaimed Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, known for its refined, complex character. It owes its distinction to a double maturation, in which the whisky is first aged in traditional American oak (ex-bourbon) casks for 21 years and then transferred to pipes that held fine Port, for a final finish.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: A rich, fruity perfume, with ripe notes of raisin, peach and kiwi, complemented by ‘nuances’ of vanilla and oak spice.
Palate: Creamy, silky texture, with a harmonious balance of fruit, honey and spice (cinnamon, nutmeg) flavours and a nutty touch.
Finish: Long, smooth and pleasant, with lingering notes of dried fruit, oak and a light touch of cocoa.
