Description
Buffalo Trace in Frankfort, Kentucky, is one of the oldest continuously operating distilleries in the United States and even distilled legally during Prohibition for medicinal purposes. The bourbon that bears the house name is a benchmark Kentucky straight bourbon, aged in historic brick warehouses by the Kentucky River.
Matured in new charred American oak and bottled at 40%, it shows vanilla, caramel, mint and molasses on the nose. The palate is silky, with caramel, toffee, maple syrup and spice. The finish is medium, with caramel, oak and spice.
Excellent neat, over a single ice cube or as the base of an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan. It pairs with smoked ribs, burgers, pecan pie and caramel desserts.
