Description

Maker’s Mark in Loretto, Kentucky, makes a wheated bourbon, using red winter wheat instead of rye for a gentle sweetness. Every bottle is hand-dipped in red wax. Cask Strength is the same bourbon without reduction with water, bottled at barrel proof, more intense and richer.

Matured in new charred American oak and bottled at 54.75%, it shows caramel, vanilla, red berries and cinnamon on the nose. The palate is rich and dense, with caramel, toffee, cherry and spice. The finish is long, with caramel, oak and spice.

Bottled at high strength, it rewards patience: taste it neat first and then with a few drops of water to see how the aromas change in the glass. A bottle for collectors and demanding enthusiasts.
