17.5 Grandes Escolhas points (test date August 2019)
Quinta da Terrugem's top wine was born in the 1999 harvest and this 2001 was the second edition. It was a brand that made a splash when it arrived on the market, almost two decades ago, not only because of its high quality, but also because of its very ambitious price, at the time only surpassed at a regional level by Pêra-Manca and little else. Today integrated into the heritage of Bacalhôa, Quinta da Terrugem is one of the rare Alentejo vineyards that is not irrigated, making life very difficult for those who tend the vines but, on the other hand, in years that are not too dry and hot, it produces fantastic wines, with an enormous sense of terroir. This is the case of this 2001, made with Trincadeira, Aragonez and Cabernet, with a peppery profile, with luxurious tannins, full of presence.
