95 points James Suckling, 94 points Robert Parker, 94 points Tim Atkin, and 94 points José Peñin
Alión is the youngest "son" of Vega Sicilia, although it is made in an independent winery. It gains many numbers over the years and has already become essential among the great Spanish reds. It stands out for its elegance and smoothness on the palate. A slightly more accessible way to discover a wine that is certainly the most iconic signature of this designation of origin. 2017 was a challenging vintage, however, with a final result worthy of pride, maintaining Alión's genuine, modern, multicultural character and with a slightly warmer and firmer expression.
James Suckling - Lots of chocolate and red fruits with some coffee and vanilla tones. It's full and layered with lots of fruit, round tannins and pleasant smoked and toasted wood complexity. Tarry undertone. Very drinkable now, but better after 2022.
