Description

Winemaking: The grapes are hand-picked into small baskets; they come from a single harvest and the wine is made in the traditional Port way. After partial destemming, the grapes are trodden by foot in old stone lagares. Fermentation is temperature-controlled and stopped by adding grape spirit (aguardente). As made, this wine has great ageing potential. A single-harvest wine, aged in oak casks for at least 7 years. The bottling year is on the back label.

Tasting notes: Tawny with orange ‘nuances’. Well balanced, with good acidity and freshness, and aromas of raisins, dried fruit and vanilla. Smooth and silky, with a firm texture and a long finish.

Storage and serving advice: Store the bottle upright, at a constant temperature and away from strong direct light. Once opened, ideally drink within 6 to 8 weeks. Serve at 14–16ºC.

Food pairing: Can be served with coffee or chocolates. Great with desserts such as crème brûlée or fruit tart, and with desserts made from chocolate, dried fruit and caramel.
