International Spirits Challenge 2016 Silver
Balvenie Caribean Cask was matured in traditional oak whiskey barrels for 14 years, then transferred to barrels that previously contained Caribbean rum. To create an ideal finish, Malt Master David Stewart filled American oak casks with his own blend of selected West Indian rums. When he thought the casks were ready, the rum was replaced with the 14-year-old whiskey and completed the job with the finishing touches. The result is a single malt whiskey, with a traditional and exceptional smoothness, with a soft honey character, married with notes of toffee and a touch of fruit, with a warm and prolonged finish. On the nose it presents rich and creamy notes of toffee, which combine with notes of fresh fruit. Rounded palate with sweet notes of vanilla and oak and a fruity character that develops over time. Soft and persistent finish. Silver Medal - International Spirits Challenge 2016
