Wine profile
Description
Dönnhoff Riesling Trocken Norheimer Dellchen GG 2023 is a highly acclaimed dry Riesling (GG - Grosses Gewächs) from Germany's Nahe region, known for its mineral character, elegance and subtle intensity.
Vinous: Rated 96 points, it's described as a wine uniting volcanic and slate soils, with notes of lemon, lime and ripe stone fruit. The palate is juicy, saline and vibrant, with an energetic texture and a linear yet aromatic finish.
James Suckling: Given 100 points, praised for its incredible freshness of Amalfi lemon and white peach fruit on a medium-bodied, focused palate. The purity and precision of the almost endless finish are highlighted, as is its aromatic delicacy.
Robert Parker Wine Advocate:
Aroma and Nose: The wine is described as having an "elegant and finely juicy" nose that's "spontaneously inviting". It shows aromas of perfectly ripe, healthy Riesling fruit, fully intertwined with flint notes from the terroir.
Palate and Texture: On the palate it's "perfectly round and refined", with a dense body but a "floating", light density. The texture is marked by deep salinity and a savoury character.
Structure and Finish: Its purity combined with intensity is highlighted. The finish is long, complex and very promising, and it's considered a "superbly balanced and joyful" wine.
