Description

Insula Vinus is an entrepreneurial 3.3-hectare project from Insula Atlantis, combining vineyard, winery, accommodation and tourism to promote the best of what the Azores produce. Guided by simplicity, its viticulture respects ancestral values, keeping native grapes and enhancing the qualities of Azorean wines.

The 2024 Chão de Lava AA Branco was made with Arinto dos Açores, which brings freshness and citrus acidity, and the more serious Verdelho. It fermented mostly in stainless steel, with part in 500-litre barrels, with indigenous yeasts, and spent nine months on lees.

It's clean, young and serious. It has 12.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.35 and 6.73 grams of acidity, and is fresh, balanced and pure. A medium-bodied palate with a stony character, notes of wet stones more than fruit, a slightly chalky touch; serious and austere, but fresh and easy to drink.

It was bottled in July 2025.
